Nate Chute Banked Slalom & Boardercross

The Nate Chute is the second longest running banked slalom in the U.S., and the third longest in North America. This “Contest for a Cause” raises money and awareness for the Nate Chute Foundation which is dedicated to reducing suicide among young people in Montana  through suicide prevention education and training, mental health counseling, and efforts to reduce substance abuse and improve self-esteem.  Nate Chute was a well-known snowboarder from Whitefish, who tragically took his own life at a young age. Many of his friends come back to Whitefish from across the country to reunite at this special event.

Schedule:
March 19: Banked Slalom 
Saturday's race is a banked slalom through the lower part of the Goat Haunt Snowboardcross course into George's Gorge. Best time wins, and seeds racers for Sunday's boardercross event. Races start at 10 am, awards at 5:30 pm at the Bierstube.

March 20: Boardercross
Sunday is one of the largest boardercross events in the Northwest, with more than 100 riders competing for the title. Races start at 10 am, awards at 5:30 pm at the Bierstube.

Spectators: This is an awesome event to watch. Located on the backside of Whitefish Mountain Resort, George's Gorge serves as a natural halfpipe that's more than 1/3 mile long. That makes the course accessible only by skier/boarder traffic. No foot traffic is allowed on Chair 1.
