Base area stats reflect natural snowfall only. Resort snowmaking operations contribute greatly to snow depth across lower elevations of the mountain.

10 a.m. update:

Chair 5 and the East Rim are open to the public! Have fun out there!

9:50 a.m. update:

What an awesome end-of-season surprise! The snow is soft and fun all around! You’ll find that it is a little heavy across the mountain, but much more so at lower elevations. We’re seeing a good few inches at the summit and it’s skiing like it! Down lower, things are feeling sticky and slow and not as deep.

The backside is feeling especially fun with those groomers having hit it early last night and a few inches falling on top of groomed trails to create some fresh turns for you to enjoy! Off-piste is also feeling pretty soft, but there’s a definitely a firm layer underneath that you know is there.

That snow line has fallen and snow is now coming down from summit to base! Visibility is actually much better than I was expecting with three to four chairs' worth at the summit. It’s currently 26 degrees and feels like 15. Winds around 13 mph are blowing with gusts up to 26 mph.

Some avalanche mitigation is being performed in the East Rim, but a 10 a.m. open is anticipated today. Check back in for updates if this changes.

It’s going to be a fun one out there! I’m looking forward to some snowy laps in decent snow today! Time to get up and get going, you’ve only got four days left!

6:45 a.m. report:

Well, good morning folks! We're in for one today! It's Helena with your daily snow report, and I sure do have some snow to report. This is it, the last hurrah, the final storm, the big one! Hope you're ready!

I received a great grooming report this morning, letting me know we've seen 4 inches fall at the summit in the past 24 hours, 2 of which came to us overnight. In the time since that report, it looks like we may have gained another inch or two on the summit snow cam. The snow is falling up there, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop!

In other news, we're seeing a good amount of precipitation down low; however, all of it appears to be in the liquid phase rather than in the form of snowflakes. Bummer. Fingers crossed the temps drop a little and we see some accumulation down here at the base.

If I were to take a guess, I would assume that the snow up there at the summit is pretty high-density with a good amount of moisture content to it. Of course, I don't truly know anything until I get those skis under me and get out there, so make sure you're back for the 10 a.m. update on how that snow is feeling!

Expect a high of 31 degrees at the summit today, and 37 degrees at the base. We're anticipating precipitation all day today, so wear something waterproof! Expect 10 mph winds out of the west with the possibility of some gusts up to 20 mph. Visibility is about two chairs' worth up at the summit at the moment, and I wouldn't expect that to change much throughout the day.

It's going to be a fun one out there, but be aware that under that fresh stuff may be some obstacles starting to come through. Ski and ride with some caution, especially towards lower elevations.

Another reminder for you! The Hellroaring Basin is closed for the season. I'm no longer asking you to stay out, I'm telling you to. Do not duck into closed terrain for safety reasons. The basin is closed to protect grizzly bear habitat, and I doubt you want to come face to face with one of those guys!

We're coming down to it! There are only a few days left in the season, and this could be the last big snow! Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy it — I know I won't! Back for your 10 a.m. update at, well, 10 a.m.!

The snow report is a subjective assessment of terrain and weather conditions. Snowfall and snow depths are measured at the summit and base areas around 6 a.m. each day. Actual depths may vary across the mountain and change throughout the day.

If you go out of bounds ...

When you exit the marked boundaries of the resort, you are entering backcountry terrain where natural and human-caused avalanches can occur. The resort does not conduct avalanche mitigation on those slopes. Always check the Flathead Avalanche Center's daily avalanche forecast and carry a beacon, shovel and probe.

Stay safe out there!

Did you know tree wells can be deadly? How do you ski or ride safely in early-season conditions? Have you read the Skier Responsibility Code?
