Today's Snow Reporter: Helena
Friday, Dec. 26, 2025:
6 a.m. report:
Good morning, Whitefish! It's Helena with your early morning snow report! Hope you're not too full of Christmas ham to get out here this morning!
We've had a wintry mix of precipitation overnight across the mountain, leading to an inch of new snow at the summit and little to no accumulation at the base. You can expect saturated snow toward the base and heavier snow that may become slick up top.
Right now, we are seeing some moderate wind gusts leading to some minor drifting at the summit. Expect decreased visibility as you make your way up the mountain. You can expect the typical two to three chairs' worth of visibility. Oh, how we love you, Montana mountains!
Something exciting I'd like to point out is that we have 95 of 111 trails open! That's not too shabby if I do say so myself! While it may not seem like we've been receiving buckets of snow every day, we're doing pretty well, and it's still early in the season! And, 35 of those 95 trails will be groomed today.
Ready to whisk you away for another day of play are Chairs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 11, as well as T-Bar 2. If you're looking for something a little more chill, check out Chair 6 and the conveyors. The Elk Highlands chair will be transporting guests between the bottom terminal and Home Again only at this time.
Today's the day! We kick off night skiing tonight with Chairs 2, 3 and 6 illuminated and spinning from 4-8:30 p.m. tonight. Get some more turns in under the stars! You will also find some new terrain features in the lower Depot area off Chair 3 to take advantage of tonight!
Tomorrow (Dec. 27), we have our Cruise the Blues Scavenger Hunt across the mountain. This is sure to be a blast for the whole family, and you're not going to want to miss it. To learn more about this event and other upcoming events, check out the events page. Another notable event coming up is the New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade & Fireworks, which will be happening on Dec. 31. You don't want to miss all the fun events Whitefish Mountain Resort has to offer!
Please remember that the holidays can be a busy time here on the mountain, so practice patience and kindness. Plan for longer lift lines and take the S.N.O.W. Bus to avoid parking challenges. Ski and ride with caution and control at all times, and don't forget to smile!
It looks like snow is in the forecast, and that's getting me pretty excited! I'll be out on the snow soon to see if those flakes start falling. In the meantime, it's time to get up and get after it! See you out there, Whitefish!
The snow report is a subjective assessment of terrain and weather conditions. Snowfall and snow depths are measured at the summit and base areas around 6 a.m. each day. Actual depths may vary across the mountain and change throughout the day. Always check with ski patrol if you need more information about skiing conditions.

If you go out of bounds ...
When you exit the marked boundaries of the resort, you are entering backcountry terrain where natural and human-caused avalanches can occur. The resort does not conduct avalanche mitigation on those slopes. Always check the Flathead Avalanche Center's daily avalanche forecast and carry a beacon, shovel and probe.
Stay safe out there!
Did you know tree wells can be deadly? How do you ski or ride safely in early-season conditions? Have you read the Skier Responsibility Code?
