Today's Snow Reporter: Helena

Thursday, March 26, 2026:

9:45 a.m. update:

It’s a stunning day out there! The sun is shinning and the sky is blue! The valley is looking exceptionally beautiful this morning, and you should head up here if you want to see it for yourself.

Snow conditions are similar to yesterday, but a little softer already. Things are still firm across the mountain, but not quite as extreme as we saw yesterday. I’m hoping that with that sun out and some luck, we’ll see things soften a little quicker.

It’s a little chilly up here at the moment, with the summit temp sitting at 15 degrees and feeling more like 0 with some 15 mph winds. Not quite T-shirt weather out there yet!

Remember at the beginning of the season when I told you pretty much every day not to straightline runs? Well, I’m going to say it one more time just to make sure you got the memo! Conditions are fast out there, but that doesn’t mean you should point it and go. Please remember to ski and ride in control with the ability to stop at all times!

Go get your goggle tan on, but maybe not your T-shirt tan yet, because it’s still a little cold! Have fun out there!

6:45 a.m. report:

It's going to be a little cooler out there today, and I need everyone to be chill about it! It's Helena this morning, here for the highly anticipated Whitefish Mountain Resort snow report. Here's what you need to know about today's conditions.

Front to back, top to bottom, there is a freeze-thaw cycle in effect. Things are going to be skiing and riding firm and fast this morning, but hopefully soften up by this afternoon. We're looking at an expected high of 32 degrees at the summit and 39 degrees at the base.

Visibility is looking good up there at the summit, and we're expecting it to stay that way thorugout the day, with only some variable cloud coverage. Winds are blowing between 10 and 20 mph, and are making things feel like the single digits right now. The sun coming up should help to warm things up.

We're coming down to it, and I know you want to get those last spring laps in, so ski and ride in control to finish the season strong! It's important to maintain the ability to stop at all times. This is especially important in the morning when things are feeling a little slicker. Practice safe skiing and riding at all times!

This weekend is a big one with three fun events happening here at Whitefish Mountain Resort! On Saturday, we've got our Spring Brewfest to support the S.N.O.W. Bus! Get your tickets for this event here! Also on Saturday, check out the Corn Cup Slopestyle competition at the terrain park! Skier and riders have dialed their tricks in and are ready to show off! In addition, at the terrain park this weekend is the Lady Power Park Hour, where gals of the community come together to learn new tips and tricks for the park. This event is happening on Sunday, and if you're looking for more information on it or any of our other events, check out the events page

I'll be back before you know it with an update on all things snow! Hope you're getting up and getting after it to make it a fantastic Thursday!

The snow report is a subjective assessment of terrain and weather conditions. Snowfall and snow depths are measured at the summit and base areas around 6 a.m. each day. Actual depths may vary across the mountain and change throughout the day.

If you go out of bounds ...

When you exit the marked boundaries of the resort, you are entering backcountry terrain where natural and human-caused avalanches can occur. The resort does not conduct avalanche mitigation on those slopes. Always check the Flathead Avalanche Center's daily avalanche forecast and carry a beacon, shovel and probe.

Stay safe out there!

Did you know tree wells can be deadly? How do you ski or ride safely in early-season conditions? Have you read the Skier Responsibility Code?

Please review our safety guides to help keep you, your buddies and your fellow guests safe on the slopes.
