DREAM Adaptive Recreation breaks down barriers to participation on the slopes!

Whitefish Mountain Resort is a proud partner of DREAM Adaptive Recreation, a nonprofit that works to make outdoor activities like skiing more accessible to people with physical, cognitive, intellectual, developmental and sensory disabilities.

A group of Flathead Valley residents founded DREAM in 1985 — a full five years before the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law — and today the organization carries out its mission with trained staff and volunteer instructors and a wide array of adaptive sporting equipment.

"Our goal is to break down barriers to participation whether you're just getting started with a new activity, looking to try out new adaptive equipment or working to level up in a sport you're already familiar with," DREAM Executive Director Julie Tickle said.

From skiing and riding on Big Mountain in the winter to mountain biking and water sports in the summer, DREAM has made it possible for countless people to enjoy the great outdoors in new and exciting ways. It offers personalized lessons and group activities for adults and children as young as 5 years old, as well as unique programs for military veterans that foster connections and encourage healing.

Thanks to its wonderful donors and 187 volunteers who gave 5,888 hours of service in 2023, DREAM provided 1,527 empowering lessons and opportunities for 329 unique individuals!

DREAM hosts two awesome fundraising events every March, making it a great time to get involved. Don't miss these opportunities to provide critical support to DREAM's programs and participants.

The Snow Ball Gala & Auction

DREAM's biggest fundraiser of the year, this lively event features dinner, cocktails and music, as well as a display of adaptive sporting equipment and an incredible selection of live auction and silent auction items!
