Whitefish Mountain Resort is a proud partner of DREAM Adaptive Recreation, a nonprofit that expands access to outdoor activities like skiing for people with physical, cognitive, intellectual, developmental and sensory disabilities.
A group of Flathead Valley residents founded DREAM in 1985 — a full five years before the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law — and today the organization advances its mission with trained staff, volunteer instructors and a wide array of adaptive sporting equipment.
"Our goal is to reduce barriers to participation — whether you're just getting started with a new activity, looking to try out adaptive equipment or working to level up in a sport you're already familiar with," DREAM Executive Director Julie Tickle said.
From skiing and riding on Big Mountain and Nordic skiing in the winter to biking, fishing, paddle sports and water sports in the summer, DREAM supports hundreds of people each year in accessing the great outdoors in meaningful and exciting ways. It offers personalized lessons and group activities for adults and children as young as 5 years old, as well as unique programs for military veterans that foster connections and community.
Thanks to its generous supporters and 231 volunteers who gave 7,115 hours of service in 2025, DREAM provided 1,714 empowering lessons and opportunities for 391 unique individuals.
Each March, DREAM brings the community together on the mountain for Shred Fest, their signature on-snow fundraiser, making it a great time to get involved. Don't miss this opportunity to provide critical support to DREAM's programs and participants.
Shred Fest On-Snow Fundraiser
Start your own fundraiser for DREAM, then join us on the mountain for a high-energy day of community and impact. Participants can take on vertical or adventure challenges — or simply enjoy a ski day with friends and family while raising awareness and support for inclusive outdoor recreation.
Music, prizes and shared mountain stoke make it one of the most inspiring days of the season. Every dollar raised fuels DREAM's year-round programs and helps expand access to outdoor recreation across Northwest Montana.
"Shred Fest is more than just a day on the slopes — it's about expanding access, fostering inclusion and creating space for people to experience all that outdoor recreation has to offer," Tickle said. "Every dollar raised helps ensure outdoor recreation is more accessible within our community."
