Private Lessons

Private instruction is the quickest way to improve your skills, from first timers up to experts. We’ll also help get you familiar with Whitefish Mountain’s awesome terrain. Lessons are available to Adults, Children and families of all abilities and ages. Up to 5 may participate for the same price. Alpine, Snowboard, Freestyle, Race, Telemark and Adaptive are all offered. Reservations strongly recommended.

Kids Groups

Join the Montana Mountain Animal themed Fun! All kids in group lessons receive Adventure Card progress reports.These cards include the runs the students have skied or snowboarded so you know where your kids can ski. Children also get awarded a pin when they have achieved all the skills on their progress card.

Enjoy the camaraderie of learning in a group of other adults with similar skills. For adults, we offer Learn to Ski or Snowboard packages or semi-private group lessons for those with experience.

Adaptive

We have adaptive-certified instructors trained to teach skiers or snowboarders with a variety of physical and cognitive disabilities. Our rental shop has a complete selection of adaptive rental equipment.

Reservations are required at least five days in advance. Let our staff help you determine whether a group or private lesson would best accommodate your needs.

All kids get to challenge their peers in race and slopestyle events in the spring and the program culminates with a family picnic on the last day.

Tommy Moe

A perfect activity for kids ages 5-12 who want to try out low-key, beginner level competitions! Only $15 per event.

Sign up Online. Each pre-registered participant will still need to check-in during the 8:30 – 9:30am registration to sign in and get a bib. Online Registration Deadline will close at 4pm on Saturday, the day before the event.

Whitefish Mountain Resort works with a solid core of families and volunteers, and the Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation, who continue to donate their time and resources to make the Tommy Moe Kids League successful.

Freestyle Team Buy Now

The Freestyle Team utilizes the Fishbowl Terrain Park, the Jump Hill and all of the freeride terrain our mountain has to offer. We won’t miss a powder day. The Weekend Program includes Saturday training plus Terrain Park/freeride coaching on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons.

Beginners focus on jumping and jibbing basics while more experienced team members focus on refining techniques and competition strategies. A progressive curriculum is employed at all levels, starting small and simple and moving to bigger and complex. Coaches are high-end Freestylers, with coaching and competition experience.

Participation in competitions is encouraged. Whitefish Mountain Resort hosts Freestyle events each season. Training will not be held on home competition days as all members will either compete, spectate, help out and cheer on teammates. The Holiday Camp and coaching at home events are included. Additional training days and traveling event coaches are arranged on an individual basis and are not included in the program fees.

For intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders who want to focus on Freestyle and freeride skills and training for competitions. Coaches will lead a program that mixes the development of strong all-mountain skills, specific terrain park progressions and freeride elements of big mountain skiing all within a fun and safety focused environment. Jr Freestyle Team begins with the Holiday Camp, then trains on Saturdays through March 14th.

Whitefish Mountain Resort Race Team
The Whitefish Mountain Race Team is a competitive alpine race team that allows young athletes to strive to reach their individual potential and pursue life’s goals through the sport of competitive ski racing. WMRT offers individualized, athlete-driven programs teaching ski racing, sportsmanship, and achievement as a way of life.The Race Team will develop sound skiing fundamentals and provide a competitive racing experience to support the athlete at all levels of competition and personal development in a healthy sporting environment.

FVSEF was founded in 1973 to advance athletic, academic and character development by supporting competitive alpine racing and freestyle competitions. Learn to Ski & Ride

You get TWO half-day lessons (10am or 1pm), TWO days lower mountain lift tickets, and TWO days of rentals. You get to choose either morning or afternoon lessons on two consecutive days with one of our top-ranked instructors. Lunch not included.

This program is offered for ages 7 and up, for both skiers and snowboarders.

But that’s just the beginning. Our Learn to Ski & Ride Graduate Program lets you take your new skills and continue on with your new found passion. After you complete the Learn to Ski & Ride lessons, you’ll get a “Graduate Program” certificate that you get to redeem for a Graduate Frequent Skier Card.

You bet we love what we do, and we are here for you! With our PSIA and AASI certified instructors, you'll advance your skills while learning about the mountain from a true insider. Our instructors can show you the right runs for your level and tell you where to find the freshest powder. They can even fill you in on where to find the best entertainment or tastiest food around the area.

PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) and AASI (American Association of Snowboard Instructors) are the national organizations that set the standards for instructing on snow. We also have our own in-house training program which provides on-going training to our instructors in line with the most up to date skills and information from PSIA and AASI.

Off-Snow Hobbies: I am a Wisconsinite. I love everything Wisconsin, including, but not limited to, brats, fishing, the Badgers and cheese! Aside from Wisconsin and "snow" related things, I enjoy trail running, cooking with beans, hiking, camping, teaching and trudging around the woods.

Fun Facts: I have beaten the games Bop-it and Bop-it Extreme 2 multiple times. I have never had a job that has not dealt with either water (in it's various forms) or fish (swim team coach and swim lessons instructor, fisheries technician, stream ecology technician, study abroad leader for high school/middle school in BVI. Since 2010 I have lived in three states (Wisconsin, Washington, and Montana) and in three foreign countries (Nepal, Iceland  and the Brithish Virgin Island).
