- Indoor Visitor Center – CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
- Stop by the “pop-up” outdoor Nature Center for “table talks” with a US Forest Ranger Thursday-Monday at the summit.
- Look for “Roving Rangers” at the summit and on trails.
- Wildflower, nature “Discovery Walks” available at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday-Monday (limit 10 people) meet the Ranger outside the Summit House.
Located on the lower level of the Summit House.
Operated and staffed by the Flathead National Forest, the Summit Nature Center is normally a must do for families at the summit to learn about our forest and its local flora and fauna. Although the center may not open this summer, you can still learn about the forest from Summit Nature Center ‘roving rangers’ at the summit and on the trail. Bring your nature questions, watch for ‘pop-up’ nature discovery talks with a ranger, join a ranger discovery walk and kids, ask a ‘roving ranger’ about the Jr. Forest Ranger program and outdoor scavenger hunt!
In the winter season, kids can sign up to be a Junior Snow Ranger and learn about where animals go in the winter, snow safety and other fun activities.
Free discovery walks are led by a Forest Service naturalist. Thursday – Monday 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.. Limit 10 people.
