Today's Snow Reporter: Chad
Monday, April 8, 2024:
Just like that, the chairlifts have stopped spinning and things are awfully quiet on the Big!
The 2023/24 ski season has come to an end, and what a wild ride it was. This winter got off to a slow, unpredictable start and posed some weather-related challenges, but we're counting ourselves lucky with all the snow we ultimately received — over 21 feet to date! We got to enjoy some bottomless pow turns and kept the party going all the way through closing weekend, and for that we're grateful.
Kudos to all our employees who kept the ship afloat this winter, grooming the slopes, patrolling the mountain, operating and maintaining the chairlifts, writing the snow report, teaching lessons, tuning skis, hosting events, driving shuttles, housekeeping, shoveling snow, clearing Big Mountain Road, stocking shelves, serving drinks and dishing out a seemingly endless supply of chicken tenders and curly fries. It takes many hands to run a ski resort and our team does it like clockwork every winter.
And thanks to you, our visitors and passholders, for choosing Whitefish Mountain Resort. You make this a special place to ski and ride season after season, and we love witnessing your excitement as you carve up the slopes.
As always, we need to issue a quick reminder about our uphill policy: Now that the operating season is over, we've entered our 14-day post-season and modified rules are in effect.
That means through Monday, April 22 …
- The East Route is the only approved route for uphill and downhill traffic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Benny Up Route is closed during those hours.
- No route restrictions are in effect before 8 a.m. and after 4 p.m.
We crafted the uphill policy with the U.S. Forest Service. It helps ensure your safety and ours as we begin clearing mountain roads and other post-season operations, so please take a moment to review the policy and route maps, and let us know if you have any questions! We appreciate your cooperation.
And don't forget to visit us this summer! From high-flying Zip Line Tours and Alpine Slides to mountain biking and huckleberry picking, there's something fun for everyone during the warmer months at Whitefish Mountain Resort.
We'll be open Memorial Day weekend (Saturday, May 25, through Monday, May 27) as well as the following weekend (Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2) and then daily from Saturday, June 8, through Labor Day.
Learn more about our summer activities, and tell your friends and family to check out our mountain lodging options!
See you again soon!
The snow report is a subjective assessment of terrain and weather conditions. Snowfall and snow depths are measured at the summit and base areas around 6 a.m. each day. Actual depths may vary across the mountain and change throughout the day. Always check with ski patrol if you need more information about skiing conditions.

If you go out of bounds ...
When you exit the marked boundaries of the resort, you are entering backcountry terrain where natural and human-caused avalanches can occur. The resort does not conduct avalanche mitigation on those slopes. Always check the Flathead Avalanche Center's daily avalanche forecast and carry a beacon, shovel and probe.
Stay safe out there!
Did you know tree wells can be deadly? How do you ski or ride safely in early-season conditions? Have you read the Skier Responsibility Code?
